NovaBiotics Ltd was founded in Aberdeen by Dr.
Deborah O’Neil in 2004. The board of directors
provides a wealth of commercial expertise and specific
knowledge of the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors.
The dynamic science team now in place (comprising
immunology, microbiology and peptide antimicrobial expertise)
provides a wealth of technological know-how that when combined
with the substantial business experience of executive management
and the board, creates the optimal balance of synergistic
skill sets to drive the business forward and build on the
success achieved to date.
Financing to Date
NovaBiotics has raised £5M in private equity
funding and support.
The Business Model
NovaBiotics will complete preclinical and early clinical
R&D (phase II) for each indication and then aims
to form strategic alliance and out-licensing agreements
with pharmaceutical partners for late stage
clinical and regulatory testing, manufacture
and marketing. Revenue from such alliances
will be re-invested into pipeline development and
growth of the technology base which in turn, will
pave the way for additional revenue generating
alliances.
This step-wise market penetration strategy will
generate a steady income stream to facilitate expansion
of the company in such as way as to negate the requirement
for further equity investment, provide investors
with clear exits and add significant value
to the company.
